ABOUT ME

Halló! I am an Icelandic gameplay designer currently working at HAzelight Studios in Stockholm.

  • Meticulous seeker of Fun

  • Omnivore gamer

  • Award-winning feature film cinematographer

  • Hobby-collecting fiend

Despite being interested in many different facets of game development, my specialty is gameplay design. I thoroughly enjoy finding the fun at the core of the experience and crafting an engaging core game loop through prototyping and iteration.

I have a deep affinity for games that create a cohesive experience by supporting the fiction of the game world with the game mechanics and vice versa. My favorite games tend to be those that transport you to a place where the gameplay and the fiction meld into an immersive experience with its own internal logic. Beyond that I am happy to play any kind of game and try not to lock myself into any specific genre.

In 2021 I decided to take the leap and join the game industry after an exciting career in the film industry where I worked as a project manager at Iceland's premier film equipment rental house and as a director of photography, culminating in the theatrical release of my debut feature film, which won an award for Best Cinematography at PIFF 2021.
Years of collaborating with people from different disciplines taught me how to achieve a common goal with strict time constraints and a limited budget.

What really draws me to game development is the fact that (much like film) it's a team sport and it gives you the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded and equally passionate people.

Outside of video games, I collect hobbies like they're Pokémon - archery, table tennis, electronics repair, TTRPGs, board games, comic books, aviation, modular synthesizers... you name it.

Some would chalk it up to a short attention span, but I would characterize it as a voracious and insatiable thirst for knowledge.
